Spafest M’Brace educational projects started off on Monday 24 July with Russell Dean’s mask making workshop. Children and adults had a great time creating funny and scary masks. The day ended with a mini masked theatre performance.
The Music Train provided a fun introduction to the enjoyment of music making for 4-7 year olds, with wriggling, jiggling, tapping, clapping and just having fun.
Grant Tunbridge and his band staged a mini Rock School for 10-18s. The students brought their own guitars or played other instruments. Grant explained how the instruments worked together in a band. The session ended with the group creating their own rock number.
The last workshop of the series saw Abdelkader Saadoun teach North African drumming, exploring rhythms from Algeria and other cultures. The group were taught to play instruments such as the Derbouka, Djembe and Hadjoudj. Everyone had fun and excitement exploring the rhythms: the workshop was a resounding success
